Thank you for taking the time to find out more about our Head of Human Resources role.
This is a really exciting time to be joining us.
One of the first Shared Services arrangements between neighbouring Councils was set-up between Watford Borough Council and Three Rivers District Council. HR, along with ICT, Finance and Revenues & Benefits, is one of the services shared across the two Councils - with Watford acting as the Lead Authority. This gives the Head of HR a fantastic opportunity, as a member of the two leadership teams, to help shape the future for both Councils and to ensure that the People priorities are being met.
In Watford, we have an unprecedented opportunity to shape the town in a way that benefits our community for decades to come. We are very clear about our vision for the Town, to create a bold and progressive future for Watford and this reflects in our ambition, the way we work and in our priorities for action.
We have a philosophy to make things happen for the good of the Town, irrespective of where powers and responsibility sits, and our strength lies in the excellent partnerships we have across the private & public sector meaning we can achieve our ambitions.
We have set Service Transformation as the key enabler to help us achieve our Watford 2020 vision where we will be:
- Customer focussed
- Digitally enabled
- Commercially minded
A series of Service Reviews is underway to achieve these key objectives and we are developing a new People Strategy to enable us to achieve this transformation.
We are committed as well to working in a more business like way – through a commercial strategy that builds on the joint ventures we have already established. As an internal service provider, HR is also building its commercial offer with several fee paying clients already and you will lead on this growing approach.
In this role you will be supported by a strong corporate management approach. You will have our authority to drive change and get things done. It is a challenging but exciting brief and there is never a dull moment in Watford!
So we really do want you to consider the role. We’re looking for someone who can add momentum to the Watford 2020 agenda as well as contributing to the delivery of the vision for Three Rivers District Council.
Baroness Dorothy Thornhill, MBE Manny Lewis
Elected Mayor of Watford Managing Director
